INSTITUTIONAL ADVANCEMENT ] BOB SCAGLIOTTI SCHOLARSHIP The Bob Scagliotti Endowed Scholarship Bob Scagliotti has graciously contributed the largest single scholarship from a BAC alum. e BAC is proud to announce the creation of the Bob Scagliotti Endowed Scholarship Fund, which has been created with the largest single scholarship contribution from an alumni in the history of the BAC. Bob Scagliotti, who graduated in , has donated , to permanently endow this scholarship fund. Bob says he felt it was time to give something back to the institution that pre- pared him to become a successful architect. " e BAC taught me many important lessons ---study and work hard, don't be afraid to admit mistakes, learn from all your experiences, and always provide complete ser vice to your employer and your clients." "Creating a new scholarship like this is one of the best ways to ensure that deserving students have a chance to follow their dreams, just as the BAC provided Bob with the opportunity to follow his own dreams," said President Landsmark. "Many of our alums have gone on to have quite successful careers," he said, "and we hope that they will remember the BAC as the place where it all started." Bob's support as an alum has set a new philanthropic standard at the BAC, where the bar must be continuously raised in order to maintain the College's commit- ment to excellence in design education disciplines. Mr. Scagliotti is indeed hoping that his generosity will pave the way for the BAC to encourage others to follow in his footsteps, providing critical resources for future students. e Bob Scagliotti Scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student enrolled in the undergrad- uate B.Arch program, who has maintained a GPA of . or better and who has demonstrated nancial need. In addition, the Scholarship will give preference to a student who has improved his or her community through meaning- ful volunteer work, and/or to a mature individual who wishes to changes careers and enter the eld of architecture. It is anticipated that this scholarship will be awarded each semester (two per year), and the rst Bob Scagliotti Scholarship is expected to be awarded a year from now, in the spring semester of . While teaching at the BAC, I found that a few of my students were graduates of other colleges and universities with degrees in profes- sions dictated by their parents. However, their desire to become architects brought them to the BAC, where they received an education in the profession of their choice. is is why I hope this endowment will not only assist those in nancial need, but also those who want to change their profession into architecture. I encourage BAC architectural students to study and work hard, not be afraid to admit to mistakes, learn from these experiences and above all, provide complete services to your employers and/or clients. --- Bob Scagliotti PRACTICE 71
