Governance is a ctively involved with developing orientation, c elebratory a nd cultivation activities in September, October, February, a nd our Gala on March 26, 2009. My work continues on planning the future of profe ssional de sign educ ation. I a m serving this yea r on the American Institute of Architects’ L ong-R ange Planning Advisory Group, a s a representative of the A s sociation of Collegiate Schools of Architecture to the six-ye ar Architectural Review C onferenc e to refine architecture schools’ accreditation standards, and on the Board of directors of American Society of Interior Design’s Foundation. BAC students are working with students from the Tufts University engineering program to design and build a sustainable house for the national Solar Decathlon competition in Washington in the summer of 2009. Work is a lso progressing on our Green Alley/Green Roof initiatives , with landscape architects Halvorson Design Partnership ser ving as our c onsultant, a nd with Institutiona l Adva nc ement Vice President Tracey Thompson having submitted an innovative f unding proposal to the Commonwe alth of Massachusetts. BAC sta ff, governance, fa culty, volunteers, design firms a nd students are working collaboratively to educate current a nd future generations of de sign profes sion als in Boston, a nd throughout the world. A new View B ook is available to help disseminate information about the BAC as a community committed to life-long-learning, practice- based profe ssiona l education and socia lly respon sible design.
