Robert Shure Each year during the Alumni Reception at Build Boston, the BAC Alumni Association Board ta kes the opportunity to honor and recognize, in the presence of their peers, those who have made significa nt contribu- tions to the College and the larger design c ommunity. 100 alumni and friends joined together for an evening of mingling, refreshments, a nd fun while overlooking the Boston skyline and Boston waterfront. This year, the Alumni Association Board c hose three members of the BAC community to proclaim Honorary Alums and one Alum to rec ognize with the Distinguished Alumni in Practice Award . Alumni Association Board Vice President William Boxx ’06 kicked off the awards presentation with the announcement of the three Honora ry Alums: Rus sel Feldman, AIA, Herbert Kronish a nd Robert Shure. The B oston A rchitectura l College recognized Russel Feldman, AIA for his dedication a nd committed servic e to the educational programs at the BAC and for his ste adf a st efforts in governance, including his role a s Chair of the Board of Trustees. Russ is the President of TBA Architects, Inc. of Waltham, MA and San Francisco and has be en active at the BAC since 1979, serving as an Overseer, a volunteer Thesis Advisor, Thesis panel member, and as a Studio Instructor and design critic in the Architecture and Interior Design Programs. Herbert Kronish received his Honorary Alumnus status in recognition of his decades of academic service to the BAC and its students. Herb has served as a member of the BAC Board, been a member of both the ac ademic and practice components of the faculty for more than 30 years, during which time he worked closely with Don Brown, former Director of the Practice C omponent, initiating and conducting severa l hundred community design studios, a nd Herb chaired the Practice Fa culty. Robert Shure wa s recognized for his deep commitment to the visual arts. As an a ssistant at the traditiona l sc ulpture studio of Dean Archangelo Cascieri and Adio diBiccari, from the early 1970’s through the 1980’s, Robert helped to produce ma ny of the public monuments, sc ulpture, memorials , restorations and the plaster model known a s “the beehive” originally designed and sculpted by Dean Cascieri and a beloved s ymbol of the C ollege. Alumni who rec eive the Distinguished Alumni in Practice Award are role model s to our students and represent the b est ta lent that the BAC has nourished and cultivated. The award, presented by Alumni Association Boa rd Director and Alumni Recognitions a nd Awards Chair David Jaquith ’69, went to Rudolph Beda r ’51, AIA Emeritus , for distinguished work in the field, a s nominated and voted by his alumni peers.
